Indian Institute of Technology - Joint Entrance Exam (IIT JEE), or simply Joint Entrance Exam (Main) was conducted successfully on April 6th 2014 across 150 centers in India. IIT JEE is conducted every year for admission in a number of engineering courses like B.Tech, B.E, B.Arch and B.Planning under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development. In 2014, around 14 lakh students took the exam.
Till a couple of years back,
there used to be separate test for admission to NITs and other Tier 1
engineering colleges known as AIEEE, while IITs used to have their own
examination. However, the current system got effective in 2012, when CBSE
(Central Board of Secondary Education) announced JEE-Mains and JEE-Advanced.
Those students who clear JEE-Mains are eligible for admission to the NITs,
IIITs and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs). However, IIT and ISM (Indian School of
Mines) aspirants have a greater hurdle to clear in the form of JEE-Advanced,
which will be held on May 25th, 2014. Only students who secure one
of the top 1.5 lakh ranks in the JEE-Mains exam are eligible to take the
JEE-Advanced examination.
Choosing the right college was never this easy
14 lac students took the
JEE-Mains exam, from which maximum 1.5 lac will be applying for admission to
IITS and ISM. The rest will either be settling for a NIT or IIIT or any other
centrally funded institute. If you are one, amongst the latter, then for your
help Shiksha.com has launched a one-of-its-kind JEE Main College PredictorTool. This special initiative is going to be of immense help for students who
