A Quick Purview of the JEE Main Offline Examination

Examination Date: April 6th 2014

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is one of the most difficult engineering entrance examinations held in the country. The examination is held offline and the admission criterion to all undergraduate engineering programs at the IIITs, NITs and other technical institutes that are centrally funded. The basic educational requirement is 10+2 completed with Science (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics). JEE Main OffLine Exam is slated to be held on April 6, 2014. Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) will also have an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced). This test is for the candidates who want to take admission in the IITs.

This year, the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Orissa and Nagaland have joined the bandwagon, thereby increasing the level of competition. Thus candidates seeking admission in technical institutes in these states will also need to fill in the JEE (Main) -2014 application form online. Even if you have to take the offline written test, you will have to fill the form online. The mode of examination is explained below:

  • Choice of Paper Mode
  • Paper -1 (B.E./B.Tech.) Pen & Paper Based
  • Computer Based Examination
  • Paper-2 (B.Arch./B .Planning) Pen & Paper Based
  • Both Paper -1 (B.E. /B.Tech.) & Paper-2 (B.Arch./B .Planning)
  • Pen & Paper Based For Both the Papers
  • Computer Based Examination for Paper — 1 and Pen and Paper based for paper 2.

This examination will also be held in the cities of Kathmandu, Colombo, Singapore, Dubai, Bahrain, Riyadh and Muscat. Candidates are allowed to submit only one application form. The fees for the examination may be paid either by debit card or credit card or even through the system of e-challan. These payments can be made in Canara Bank, ICICI Bank or Syndicate bank in cash.
Summing it up:

  • Candidates of JEE (Main) 2014 will have to apply online only. No printed application form is available for JEE (Main). 
  •  Ensure that you end up filling the genuine application form online and accurately. This year onwards, the application has been made completely online.  
  •  Also ensure that you end up fulfilling the eligibility criterion as it is laid down in the clause.
