Mass Communication – An Attractive Career

Mass communication has attracted today’s youth as this seems to be an exciting career to them. Mass communication implies communicating to masses through different mediums like TV, print media, radio etc. Today many TV channels, newspapers, magazines, advertising agencies are flooding the market thereby creating great career opportunities in this field. If you think you are creative, dynamic, have flair to translate your ideas into actions through different mediums, loves challenges and have good communication skills then you are at a right career track.

Mass communication covers many different areas like Print Journalism which includes newspapers; magazines etc for conveying there message. Even though it is oldest form of communication still it has gained popularity and covers almost all the subjects. Next comes Electronic Journalism which includes films, television, radio, audio, video etc.It gives opportunities in many fields like direction, production, camera, graphics, editing, sound, programme research, script writing ,acting, modeling etc. Then comes Advertising which can be done through newspapers, magazines, commercial on radio, television etc. Last but not the least is Public relations which includes portraying of positive image and publicity for the organization and its products to increase its business.

There are many institutes which provide mass communication courses at diploma and degree level. According to a report by FICCI Indian print and mass broadcast media will grow 14 to 22% or even more till 2012 while print media is expected to incur 28,000 crore till 2012 and TV sector will become 60,000 crore till 2012.
